Cigar Notes

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026

Cigar Notes (“the app”) is a personal cigar journal with optional social features, made by Morton Builds (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. Questions: jon@mortonbuilds.com.

Your journal

Your cigar entries, reviews, ratings, photos, smoking spots, and settings are stored on your device. If you create an account and sign in, your journal is also saved to our cloud backend so it can sync across your devices and serve as a backup — this includes private entries, which are stored in your own account and are never shown to other users. If you don’t sign in, your data stays on your device only. You can export all of your data to a file you control at any time.

Camera & photos

The app uses your camera and photo library only when you ask it to: to add a photo to a cigar review or your profile, and to scan a buddy’s QR code to add them. The app only accesses the specific photos you choose.

Location

The app may use your approximate location to show local weather on your journal, and—only if you turn it on—to tag or share the location of a smoking spot. You can decline location access and the app still works.

Social features (only if you opt in)

If you create a profile, we store your username, optional display name, profile photo, and your buddy connections. Reviews you mark public can be seen by your buddies; reviews you keep private are visible only to you. Your account data is kept on our backend provider so it can sync across your devices and power the buddies feed.

Who we share with

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers to run the app: a backend/database host (Supabase, for accounts and sync), Apple (for Sign in with Apple, if you use it), and a weather service (which receives approximate coordinates to return local conditions). They process data only to provide their service.

Moderation

Because buddies can see public posts, the app lets you report and block other users. We act on reports of objectionable content, typically within 24 hours, and may remove content or accounts that break our Terms.

Your choices

Age

Cigar Notes is intended for adults of legal smoking age and is rated 17+. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above will change. Significant changes will be noted in the app.
